Fran / AI++ - Voice-first Bitcoin AI assistant

Fran / AI++ was a Bitcoin++ Floripa 2025 hackathon project built around a simple idea: use a voice-first AI assistant to make Bitcoin software easier to understand and use.

A public roundup of notable projects from the event lists “Fran by Goat++” as a tool to help onboard merchants and users to Lightning by explaining common Bitcoin apps, answering questions, and audibly describing interface elements.

Bitcoin++ Floripa 2025

Bitcoin++ Floripa’s hack+play edition ran from February 19 to 22, 2025, with the hackathon itself starting on February 20 and project presentations happening on February 22.

Fran appeared as one of the projects publicly highlighted after the event, with an external demo link and a recorded presentation in the livestream archive.

What the project showed

Public demos and presentation artifacts show Fran as a broader accessibility and onboarding layer for Bitcoin:

  • voice and text Q&A about Bitcoin tools
  • screen sharing so the assistant could react to what the user was seeing
  • a code generator mode
  • community onboarding flows tied to GoBTC

One presentation slide summarizes the goal well: Bitcoin is powerful. Fran makes it accessible.

Why it was interesting

Most Bitcoin UX work improves individual apps. Fran pushed on a different layer: an assistant that could sit next to the user, explain interfaces, answer questions in natural language, and reduce the intimidation factor for first-time users and merchants.

That makes it an interesting hackathon project not just because it combines AI and Bitcoin, but because it treats usability and onboarding as the main product surface.

Status

Fran appears to have remained a hackathon project and public demo rather than turning into an ongoing product. The value is in the prototype itself: a concrete exploration of accessible, voice-first Bitcoin education and app guidance.
